IGNITE TEACHES | Ceci Denley

Ceci Denley, born in Tennessee but a California lover, started dancing when she was just four years old. She has spent the past ten years training in San Diego at multiple competition studios and ballet schools. In the last five years she has assisted choreographers during competition season and secured a slot at a local dance studio. There she taught and choreographed for two years in a variety of styles and even led a ballet summer intensive in 2022. Around the same time she joined a professional dance company called Affinity Dance Company under the direction of Ashley Valerio. She’s trained with the company for two years now performing at local venues in San Diego to sold out audiences. Ceci moved to Los Angeles directly following high school to further her training in all styles and find her choreographic voice. In class, Ceci hopes to encourage dancers to discover something new about themselves. She believes each class is an opportunity to get to know yourself better and she encourages her fellow dancers to give into the discovery of new facets of their art. This class will begin with a heat building warmup and then transition into a loosely structured improv where dancers will continue the focus of building heat while also exploring whatever feels good for them in the moment. The class will then move into some contemporary choreography in which dancers will be asked to tap into some characterization while finding their voice through the given movement.
